Few more signings
Two more signing events last Saturday - Dan Abnett ( http://www.danabnett.com/ ) at Forbidden Planet and Bryan Talbot ( http://www.bryan-talbot.com/ ) at Streatham Library. Mr Abnett writes for both DC Comic and Marvel, and wrote the Death's Head II series that was a massive success for Marvel UK in the 90's, just before the comic industry collapsed. He's now writing a successfl Nova series for Marvel, and also some books based on the Warhammer role playing thingy. (Rolling dice and painting little metal men or something?) Bryan Talbot began doing "underground" comics in the 70's (underground comics = comics done by trippy hippies) and is now a respected figure in the UK comic industry. He was giving a talk on his latest graphic novel, 'Alice in Sunderland', which he took 5 years to complete! The first printing of that book has just sold out which I guess would make him happy and pay a few bills. He mentioned he was in New York a few weeks ago promoting his book, when he got a call from the comic shop that was hosting the signing saying they might have to cancel it. When he asked why, apparently someone had decided to jump off a very tall building nearby and that a leg was now resting outside the comic shop. Anyway, his book explores a region of North-East England and it's connections with Lewis Caroll/Alice in Wonderland. His book also mentions Hartlepool, the birthplace of my father, and the very stupid legend of the hanged monkey:

So, does this mean I am descended from monkey hangers??
