Still thinking about Spider-Man 3
I just can't stop thinking how they could have made this film better. From stuff I've read on the net, it seems the Producers of the movie dictated that Venom had appear in the movie, because kids like Venom and he'll sell a lot of toys. Apparently this film was to have Sandman and the Vulture as the villans, which would have taken out the whole symbiote, dark Peter/Spidey and Eddie Brock/Venom storyline. Hopefully this would have led to a shorter film, yet still giving Mary Jane in the dumps and the redemption of Harry Osborne plots some screentime (but they could have been reduced in length too).
What would have been better was to film a Spidey 3 and 4 back to back, with Venom only appearing in the 4th film. Then you could give a bit more time and effort to explaining how and why an alien symbiote just happened to crash on a meteorite next to Peter Parker and hitch a lift on his moped. Or, not have Venom as an alien at all, but maybe someone getting their hands on Peters DNA (from all that webbing he leaves around?) and doing some fiddling around with it until it turns into the symbiote (keeping with the theme of all the super-people in the Spidey films getting powers from science experiments gone wrong).
I guess that is what I, as an "older" viewer, wants in his comics film, more thought and explanation of events, but for the ten year old kid who sees this film, they probably don't care about any of that stuff, they just like Spidey in a black suit and all the special effects.
I also read an interesting comment on the net about the women in Peter's life, and how that Mary Jane and Gwen Stacey are only into Spider-Man, which is why his relationships with them as Peter Parker are always doomed to fail. They then said that this is why Peter needs to hook up with his Polish neighbour Ursula, who is totally into Peter, giving him milk and cookies all the time. Hmm, I don't know about that, but I reckon she should be turned into the Black Cat or something in the next film! Can anyone say cat fight?! Rowrl!
